Orthodoxy in Ireland

Everyone in the world knows that March 17th is the feast day of St. Patrick. What many, even most Christians, don't know is the large number of Celtic saints whose feast day is also today.

Orthodoxy in Ireland has a long and illustrious history and is alive and well today. The renewed interest in Celtic Christianity is leading many to a discovery of the Orthodox Faith.

In addition to Padraig (Patrick) (+461), Bishop of Armagh, Enlightener of Ireland, the Orthodox Church celebrates, remembers and asks the intercessions of:

Withburgh (+c. 743), Princess of East Anglia, Solitary of East Dereham,

Norfolk, and Founder of a Nunnery There (when her holy relics were
exhumed, a holy well sprang up which still exists )

Lulach, Last Orthodox King of Scotland

Llinio (+520), Abbot and Founder of Llandinam, Powys, Wales

Holy Orthodox Saints of Ireland, pray to God for us!
