Eastern Orthodoxy Through Western Eyes

Brad Boydston is the latest person to recommend Donald Fairbairn's "Eastern Orthodoxy Through Western Eyes."

Here is a rather stern critique of Mr. Fairbairn's work by an Orthodox priest.

I have this fear that Fairbarin's perspective will be hauntingly like that found in the books of Daniel Clendenin. I've read all of Clendenin's books, but not Fairbairn.

Has anyone read both authors? Is the critique of Fairbarin accurate? What is the best book about Orthodoxy written by a non-Orthodox that you have read?

Update: Josh has a few things to say about the critique linked above.
